Ever since I was a lil girl, there was always a certain level of fascination, when I stood in front of a vending machine trying to figure out my purchase. Today as an adult, you can still find me glued to the vending machines, except, the new modern version features fun & kitschy items.
I spotted this one @ The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. You can get everything from Lady Gaga rhinestone encrusted ear bugs, fashion tape, gourmet chocolate, jewelry, and even eyelashes. Although, you can find better quality, selection, & prices for falsie lashes just around the corner at Skins 6/2 Cosmetics.
I’ve traveled the world and simply adore the hot/cold drink vending machines in Tokyo. They even carry small selection of hot soups.
My 2nd runner up would be Bam! in NYC. They feature hot foods such as grilled cheese, sandwiches, and mozzarella sticks.
I love dessert, but I don’t eat them. From the sugar, eggs, and lots of cream, I totally avoid desserts when possible. However, I do admit I enjoy watching CUPCAKE WARS!!!
I mean, who knew baking & competing for the covenant title of Cupcake Wars, could be so brutal?!
2010 was a fantastic year, filled with unforgettable memories. My husband and I, kicked off the year by spending a couple of weeks in pure sunshine and tropical weather. We managed to run out businesses remotely, but still had plenty of time to relax.
After a 1 year hiatus, JP & I managed to come back home for a visit to S’pore. Not much has changed since our last visit. High rise buildings and modern shopping plazas are still under construction in and around Orchard Road, but some things remain constant, and that’s the huge selection of delectable food & treats.
Do enjoy my photo diary of this long overdue trip back home. I’ll be posting additional photos each day.
Now here comes the food & shopping!
Back in Aug 2010, I had the chance to visit the beautiful island of Ibiza. During our stay, I had a chance to go to Privilege to see DJ Tiesto. Then in November of 2010, I ran into DJ Tiesto in Las Vegas! He was so sweet and agreed to take a photo with me. =)
Here’s one of my favorite songs & video clips from DJ Tiesto.
Thanksgiving is a wonderful excuse, to over indulge in just about everything. I truly believe that we should be thankful all year long, and not just on one day. People should make the effort to see their family and friends more often. Call me crazy, but I enjoy that warm and fuzzy feeling of good company and great food. This year, I spent this Thanksgiving with my husband and one of our friends in Las Vegas.
Thursday AM: We started off the day with morning bike to have brunch at Le Grande Orange. Both of us had the Classic Commuter Sandwich.
Thursday PM: We started off with a dinner at Switch at The Wynn Encore Hotel, then ended up hanging out at Tryst.
The following night we had dinner at Valentino at The Venetian Hotel, then went to see Le Reve at The Wynn Encore Hotel. During the daytime, my husband and I walked the strip over to Bellagio, to enjoy a hearty fare at Noodles, inside the Bellagio Hotel. On the final night before our flight back to LA, we dined at Sushi Samba at the Palazzo, and squeezed in some time at the Black Jack tables & penny slots.
$1700 later, some cute pictures, and lots of great memories, we’re now back home. Do enjoy some of my random photos from the trip.
The LA Auto show this year looked a million times better than previous years. It was literally battle of the LED walls! Bigger is definitely better! Each booth was towering with over hanging signage, massive led screens, and minimalistic designs. In my opinion, Lexus & Mercedes Benz had the best booth design and car display. Here are just some quick pics I snapped with my Nokia phone.
Earlier this evening I met up with Young, Trung, and some friends to check out the Sanrio 50th Anniversary event, at the Santa Monica Barker Hanger. Last year, Young and I attended the Hello Kitty Birthday celebration at Royal T in Culver City, and that was tons of fun.
First off, parking was $10, and it was pretty empty when I arrived at 8pm. Yes, I know it is a weekday, but the HK Birthday event last year had lines going down the street everyday.
I will probably get mauled by HK and Sanrio fans for saying this, but this years concept was cute, but the event was pretty boring and lifeless. For such a huge space, they only had a small section of activities and carnival type games. The mini golf and mini ferris wheel were cute, but definitely aimed towards the 10-16 age group. The pop up store featured not so exciting gift items, to include plush dolls, resuable bags, erasers, and other overpriced knick knacks. Honestly, you can find a better selection of cute items at any regular Sanrio store.
The art selection was quite bleak, compared to the creative pieces they showcased at Royal T the previous year. There were a couple of pieces that stood out was the piece that looked like a painting, but was made entirely of jelly beans! If you missed this event, trust me, you really didn’t miss out on much!
Hope you enjoy some photos I snapped from the event.
Alas, I’ve finally made it to the 3 million point club! Here’s my proof.
I have to admit, Vegas is one of my favorite places to go! With a plethora of restaurants, entertainment, and gambling, Vegas is like a playground for adults. Best part is, you can indulge in just about anything, 24 hours a day!
On this trip, I realized my penchant for penny slot machines. My number game is blackjack, but I like to supplement it with some penny machine action! Had some very productive meetings, and spent my time catching up with some friends.
I had planned to go experience the CSI exhibit at the MGM Mirage, but ran out of time. Hopefully it will be there when I return.
Hope you enjoy some of my Vegas highlights!
Manny Pacquiao made an appearance at The Santa Monica Place mall, to promote his new line of merchandise with Nike. Prior to his appearance at Nike Town, Manny did a live Q&A session in front of thousands of fans. Awesome!
My favorite activity on a warm and sunny day, is to cruise around at the beach. Here’s just some pics from a recent bike ride with JP. I love being surrounded by the ocean, mountains, palm trees, and plenty of sunshine.
My dear friend Trisha, invited me to an exclusive movie screening for Holy Rollers the other night. It turned out to be a really good indie film, and I highly recommend watching when it comes out on DVD in less than 1 week.
Holy Rollers was an awesome movie. Got a chance to meet the director Kevin Asch, and actors Justin Bartha and Danny Abeckaser.
After finishing up my photoshoot in OC, I came back home and went on a non traditional dinner date with JP. We hopped on our bikes, and went through our usual path along the beach. Biked to our favorite spot to eat fresh omusubi’s and daikon salad, with hojicha tea. It was so refreshing, and the perfect way to spend the evening together. After our quick dinner, we biked home in the dark.
Friday: Catched a matinee with JP and saw Wallstreet.
Saturday: Day trip to Santa Barbara and lunched @ the Four Season. In the evening, JP and I biked to the Glow Art Event in Santa Monica.
Sunday: Abbot Kinney Festival during the daytime, then went bar hopping at the beach in Venice. Came back and partied it up until 11:30pm. =)
Our spur of the moment vacation in Ibiza, was the best trip ever. With sunny skies and slightly humid weather, it was the perfect way to spend our final days of summer. The Europeans and South Americans flock from all over the world to Ibiza, to relax and also enjoy the nightlife. The beaches are packed with sun bronzed and gorgeous people of all ages. Did I mention nude sunbathing is totally acceptable?! Love it!
The Ibiza Gran Hotel is the only 5 star hotel on the island, and now I know why. The service is impeccable, and the rooms and views are incredible. There’s even a casino attached on the property, so black jack players like me can just stumble over. 😉
The food is delicious in Ibiza, as we had the chance to drive to the other side of the island to have some local paella. The jamon in Ibiza was delicious as well. Aside from enjoying the beach and sleeping until the early afternoon, we went to see Tiesto play at Privilege! He was amazing, and I will certainly post some video soon. We also partied it up at Space the night before. Ibiza is definitely the perfect mix of relaxation and party time.
We will definitely be back to Ibiza in 2011!
After a long night of festivities, JP & I strolled over to Ktown for the KBBQ Annual Cook Off. As soon as we arrived, we totally scored the best parking ever! We ended up paralleling it only a block away, and luckily our meter was a broken one. hahah. So it read FAIL, which is awesome, since it’s off limits for meter maids to write you a ticket. =)
So, we took our sweet time and enjoyed all kinds of wonderful foods and drinks in the soju & beer garden. Jp’s favorite was from Seoul Sausage, and I loooooved the Kalbi Burger. Both were delicious, since they had traditional Korean flavor, but were presented with a westernized fusion. The thick slice of tomato, red onions, and lettuce, really made the Kalbi burger complete. I’m definitely going to find their restaurant to have another one, next time I’m in K town. Oh, and the Seoul sausage was presented on a bun, and topped off with kimchee. The combo sounds gross, but it was totally good! Cool Haus & the Sprinkles truck were there to satisfy those with who have been touched by the sweet tooth fairy.
Another huge feature at the food festival was the soju & beer garden, hosted by Jinro and Hite Beer. We also caught the tail end of the Choco Pie eating contest, and the 1st place winner ate 30 of them! Eeeek, I’m still thinking about how many calories and grams of sugar he ingested. Yucky!
Aside from all the yummy eats, we did walk away with some swag of course!
– 6 Jinro soju cups
– Hite bottle opener and flash light keychain (Hey, this totally makes sense if you were going to drink in the dark and couldn’t see what you were doing. Genius!)
– Audrey Magazine (summer issue)
– Toothbrush and dental goodies from Wp Institute
– Hand sanitizer lotion from Jinro
I was so fortunate to attend the private pre-opening festivities @ The Santa Monica Place yesterday. The new and improved shopping plaza is gorgeous! It has Cb2, Hugo, Boss, Nike Town, Nordstroms, and Bloomies! There’s also dinning on the top terrace, which features a breath taking view of Santa Monica. Enjoy my sneak peak photos.
Btw, be sure to check out the main website for The Santa Monica Place. They are having special promotions for the entire month of August, to celebrate their grand opening.
1. Catching up with friends
2. Not having to decide on breakfast or lunch. Cause it’s brunch!
3. It’s officially okay to start drinking, without having ppl look at you weird. =)
