Saturday brunch down on Abbot Kinney

Last Saturday, I finally got a chance to catch up with a good friend (and neighbor) for brunch and afternoon tea. We stopped off at 3 Square cafe for brunch and bellinis, and then walked over to meet someone at the trendy Intelligentsia coffee bar. What a fun day! I was shacked up in the home for most of the week, just working on my new business venture. It was nice to get some fresh air, chat, and enjoy good food.

Hi Trisha!

I don't do coffee, but I did have Dragonwell green tea. It was okkkk.

This dog walked up to me and scared the cr*p out of me! He turned out to be really sweet.

Only in SoCal, will you see super furry bikes. No, these don't belong to me.

Lemonade (Good Eats LA)

Woke up to a beautiful sunny day and decided to hit the roads with JP to find some lunch.

1 stop: Farmer’s Market for some fresh veggies & fruit for the week.

2 stop: Lemonade, for some lunch & of course some lemonade!

After scoping out Yelp for the reviews, we decided to go to Lemonade for a quick lunch on the way back home. This cafeteria-ish place was packed to the brim! Good food selection and good pricing as well.

For lunch, we had the strawberry spinach salad, cucumber cantaloupe with prosciutto salad, then cous cous with wild mushrooms (w/parmesan & truffle oil), and a side of ahi tuna with a citrus vinaigrette.

For all of the general side items, you can do the following combos:

1 item: $4.00
2 items: $7.50
3 items: okay, i forgot!!!

Then, all lemonades are $2.75. So far, my favs are: Peach Ginger Lemonade & Blueberry Mint Lemon Lemonade.

Jin Patisserie

Jin Patisserie

Over the weekend, I had to chance to try the macarons from Jin Patisserie.  These tiny sandwich-like pastries are full with flavor and texture.  They had some traditional flavors, as well as some exclusive ones.

I chose the 8 piece macaron box, which included a random assortment of the following flavors:

Strawberry, Chocolate, Mint, Ume, Caramel, Pistachio, Tea, Red Plum, Vanilla, and Cinnamon.

If you’re not a big fan of desserts, Jin Patisserie also offers salads, sandwiches, and a wide range of exotic teas from France (The O dor).  The location is very discreet and can be a little difficult to find.  It’s on Abbot Kinney, across the street from 3 Square Cafe.

There are also many other beautiful confectionaries like green tea cake, cookies, and chocolate.  Let me tell you, their assortment of chocolates put Godiva to shame!  If you’re not able to make it out to Jin’s, make sure to go on their website. They also have an online shop for your convenience.  This would be a really special and thoughtful treat, to give as a Christmas gift for your family, friends, and co-workers.

Once you’ve tried their macarons, you’re guaranteed to fall in love with this place!
