The air is getting cooler by the day, and I’m definitely getting into the holiday mood. Today, I’ve officially decided to kick off the holidays extra early, by bringing out and setting up my Christmas tree. I’m going to reuse my shiny & sparkly turquoise colored mini tree. Last year, I made all kinds of fabulous ornaments, and this year I’m planning to add some extra sparkle.
You can have gorgeous ornaments for your tree this year, with some extra change to spare. The key is to work in the same color family with your embellishments, and add some sparkle wherever you can!
– 1 tube of mini round ornaments (16 pieces/$1.00 @ Target)
– Liquid glue (Jewel-it glue)
– Glitter (JoAnn Fairy Dust Glitter)
DIY Sparkly Christmas Ornaments
1. Start with plain or pre-glittered round ornaments (i used mini sized ones for my DIY project)
2. Apply a thin coat of glue all over the ornament
3. Roll evenly in your glitter, and gently tap off the excess.
4. Let it stand and dry overnight.
5. Voila! You have gorgeous sparkly Christmas ornaments that everyone will be lusting for.
Tips: Try using glitters with different textures, and colors. I purchased ornaments that already had glitter, but I added more drama with JoAnns Fairy Dust glitter, that has mini stars, bigger glitter pieces that were more iridescent. The lights on your tree, will reflect beautifully!
I’m really excited about my business, and next step is to set up my cute home office. I’ve been shopping around for file cabinet, but most of them are so plain & ugly. =( I came across a website (sorry dont remember the url), but they had some tips on how to dress up plain o’ file cabinets with wallpaper. I might just have to try this myself. Here’s their example, and I love it.
Oh yea, and so far, Fuego has volunteered to be my door man. He’s loyal, tough, and will work for kibbles. Don’t let him fool you. He’s trained to attack on command. Tisk tisk.
So, finally!!! We’ve officially started the DIY (or have someone else do it, if you’re a cheater like me) projects at home. It took awhile to decide on a color for the guest room, but I ran over to Home Depot and had the guy mix up something extra special for me. Looks like it’s time to decorate the wall with some art, or maybe even some vinyl decals. Stay tuned for updates!
Here it is…
After flipping through dozens of wallpaper sample books, we’ve finally decided on something for our master bedroom. The color theme will be: purple, black, silver, and white. I’ve also included some pieces that we may incorporate, to transform our space into a stylish bedroom. Total budget: $1000
I’m always been a fan of re-purposing little items around the house, but as of late, it seems to be trend that is getting more popular! Was browsing on apartmenttherapy.com, and excited to see the creativity in several re-purposing projects. My favorite one is the shipping pallets transformed into a daybed!
